Greene County Public Health Dementia Prevention Course Starting in February
JEFFERSON, Iowa –Greene County Public Health will be launching their first 10-week dementia prevention course of 2024 on February 27 at Greene County Medical Center.
Unlocking Brain Fitness: Keys to Dementia Prevention brings experts in diet, exercise, sleep, chronic diseases, medications, water intake, stress, hearing and socialization together to help attendees learn ways to reduce their risk of developing dementia by as much as 70%.
“Although there is not a cure for dementia, there are ways we can introduce positive lifestyle changes to help reduce the risk,” says Greene County Public Health Director, Becky Wolf. “Thanks to a partnership with the Alzheimer’s Association and the YMCA of Greater Des Moines, Public Health is able to bring this important course to our area residents with the goal of providing education and resources needed for people to work on their brain fitness.”
The upcoming Unlocking Brain Fitness: Keys to Dementia Prevention course will be held in the Greene County Medical Center Education Center on Tuesdays, from 10 a.m. to noon, February 27 through April 30. For more information or to register, please contact Greene County Public Health at 515-386-3228.
