Fall 2016 "DAISY" Award to Christensen

by -

Carol Christensen, Long Term Care RN, was named Greene County Medical Center’s second 2016 DAISY Award honoree at a ceremony on November 16.  There were four nurses recognized at the event.

Christensen was nominated by Long Term Care resident Vic Eslick, who wrote about how Christensen was always willing to help residents and co-workers.  “I appreciate Carol’s help doing the extra things that I can’t do for myself,” said Eslick.  “I see her teaching co-workers how to use the computers.  I see her on weekends and around holidays making sure there are enough medicines for us.  She always has a happy smile on her face.  I think she really deserves this award.

Christensen is the sixth nurse to be honored at the medical center.  Other nominees recognized at the November 16 event were acute nurse Jodi Schroeder, case manager Allie Hamilton and Long Term Care nurse Maria Bretey.

The internationally-known DAISY Award has been used to recognize thousands of “extraordinary nurses” for exceptional patient care for the past 17 years.

Nominations for the DAISY Award can be made throughout the year.  However, the ceremonies are held twice a year.  Nomination forms and submission boxes are located throughout the medical center or electronically via the medical center’s website, gcmchealth.com.  Nominations can be made by patients, their family members, caretakers, community members and co-workers.
