Foundation Golf - Perfect Day, Great Fundraiser

by -

Foundation Director Hollie Roberts couldn’t have asked for better weather for the Greene County Medical Center Foundation golf tournament held Friday, August 4, at the Jefferson Municipal Golf Course.  Sunny skies, temperatures in the mid-70s and plenty of golfers make a perfect combination for fun and fundraising.

Starting at 10:30 a.m., twenty-one teams played 18 holes, followed by lunch provided by A&W Restaurant and ending with a dinner catered by Casa De Oro; both restaurants are located in Jefferson.  Roberts estimated that “over $16,000 was raised with sponsorships, team registrations and a silent auction that included Iowa State and Iowa University memorabilia, as well as two tickets to the Solheim Cup, to be held at the Des Moines Golf and Country Club later this month.

“It was just a perfect day all the way around.  I couldn’t be more pleased with the weather and the turnout of golf teams.”  Roberts noted, “This year’s golf tournament proceeds are helping to kick off our major fundraising campaign for a 3D mammography machine.  What a great start.”

The overall winning team was Edward Jones with Dean Dozier, Scott Weber, Cole Jaeschke and Joel Williams.  Major sponsors of the event included Drees Company of Carroll, UnityPoint Health-Des Moines and A&W Restaurant in Jefferson.
