Here's to You, Caregivers
by Greene County Medical Center - November 25, 2016
National Family Caregivers Month allows us to give a shout-out to all the family members who have taken on the responsibility of caring, in big and small ways, for those who need help with daily living.
It’s a big task and we applaud all of you. At Greene County Medical Center, we have some programs and services that might be of help as you provide care to an aging partner, parent or friend.
We offer many healthcare options for those of all ages, like on-campus providers through UnityPoint Clinic; outpatient services that include lab work, imaging and outpatient surgeries; and infusion or chemotherapy services. All of these services provide care closer to home for those in need.
Programs designed specifically for the elderly include many services through the public health department. These include:
- Health Maintenance Program: includes 1 or 2 monthly home visits from an RN to help assist with medications, an illness, or a condition
- Homemaker/Personal Care Assistance: can include 1 or 2 weekly visits assisting with personal hygiene, light meal preparation, housekeeping or other household needs
- “A Matter of Balance” program: designed to reduce the fear of falling and increase the activity level of older adults who have concerns about falls
- Lifeline: an emergency response system that provides in-home call units that give peace of mind to individuals and family members, and can prolong living on one’s own by providing a “lifeline” to emergency services
Ever Greene Ridge is an independent living community for those age 55 years and older. It offers a lifestyle designed to make life easier, safer and more convenient.
And finally, our Long Term Care nursing home strives to make our facility truly "home" for our residents. Our Long Term Care staff become extended family in many ways - and they take a vested interest in the residents they serve.
