Medical Center Moment - August 7, 2014
It’s hard to believe we are on the downhill slope of summer — even school registration is behind us now.
We continue to move forward at the medical center. Our building project is on track after several weeks of dry weather. It’s exciting to see progress that is visible from the road. The retaining wall is nearly complete and the concrete footings show the outline of the expansion. Steel beams should be visible soon. I encourage you to drive by and see the progress. You can also follow progress on our website or on our Facebook page, where we post photos on a regular basis.
Along with our building project, our capital campaign is also progressing and we are now at 71% of our $4 million goal. Every contribution makes a difference. I hope you have chosen to support this project. Please visit with Hollie Roberts, our Foundation director, about the gift you want to make.
As we continue to improve the care we provide, we have an exciting change starting September 1. We are set to roll out a hospitalist program, which will give our inpatients consistent provider coverage. Hospitalists are physicians who manage a patient’s care while in the hospital. They work with patients and families on a daily basis to provide responsive and coordinated care. They also collaborate with nursing staff and a patient’s primary care provider before, during and after care to ensure best outcomes. We are partnering with many of our current ER physicians — familiar faces in our community — to serve as our hospitalists. A formal release about this program will be forthcoming, but it’s exciting for me to share the news with you here.
It’s an exciting time to be at the medical center and all of us here appreciate that you choose Greene County Medical Center for your health care needs. Thank you.
Always Here, Always Caring,
Carl Behne, CEO
