I said it last month, and it remains to be true —  2019 looks bright for the medical center. It will be a busy place here for the next several months, as new providers and services join us.

Last week, we announced the transition of  UnityPoint Clinic becoming Greene County  Family Medicine Clinic, under medical center ownership and leadership. All current providers will be with the newly named clinic, ensuring that patient care will not be compromised. This change will be effective April 1, 2019. A more detailed release regarding this change can be found on our website, here.

As we ended 2018, we finalized a contract for a full-time staff surgeon. We officially have Dr. Josh Smith, who has been part of the Western Iowa  Surgery team here at the medical center for over 17 years, joining the medical center on March 1. This will allow us to offer general surgeries and colonoscopies 5 days a week beginning in March.

We also have pediatrician Dr. Holly Van de Voort joining our team on April 1. Dr. Van de Voort will bring a much needed service to many young  families in the communities we serve.

I was pleased to watch our 2018 Year in Review video, which was posted last week on our website. It does a great job of capturing many of the things we accomplished in 2018. With the way things are looking for 2019, I can’t imagine how long that video might be a year from now.

Ultimately our goal is always the same — to fulfill our mission: “To enrich our community by  providing quality, compassionate care to every patient and contributing to the well-being of every family.”

Thank you for entrusting your healthcare needs to Greene County Medical Center.

Always Here, Always Caring,
Carl Behne, CEO
