Medical Center Moment - March 27, 2014
It seems like I just completed my NCAA tournament brackets and now we are down to the sweet sixteen. As each of us finish the season cheering on our favorite teams, the medical center will be implementing a lot of game changing programs.
First, this weekend we’ll be rolling out EPIC — our new electronic patient medical record system. This system will allow for better alignment of patient care. Many providers across the state and country use EPIC, and having access to your medical center records through MyUnityPoint will make this a winning system for our patients.
When you come to your next outpatient appointment at the medical center, please allow for a little extra time and don’t forget your photo ID and insurance card — this will help the registration staff during the initial transition period.
At a special March board of trustees meeting, the building project construction bid was awarded to Woodruff Construction, a Fort Dodge/Ames based firm. If all goes as planned, a contract will be finalized in the next few days and then the project can begin in earnest.
You are all invited to join me next Thursday, April 3, at 3 p.m. for our groundbreaking ceremony. The estimated time frame for this expansion/renovation project is two years, so look for a completion date of spring 2016. When completed, the medical center will be able to stay in the game when it comes to providing improved access, privacy and efficiencies both in outpatient and inpatient care.
Together we can work through the construction zones. I’ll help with navigation in the coming months in future Medical Center Moments, so stay turned. You’ll also find updates and additional information, including weekly videos on our website, gcmchealth.com, on the “Building Project” page.
I assure you that even as we move forward with many game changing programs, all of us at the medical center will keep our patients, visitors and community our #1 priority.
Thank you for choosing Greene County Medical Center to take care of many of your health care needs.
Always Here, Always Caring,
Carl Behne, CEO
