Medical Center Moment - May 1, 2014

What a difference a month makes! After the April 3 groundbreaking ceremony, work on the expansion and renovation project began in earnest. Check out the time-lapse video link on our website, gcmchealth.com on the “Building Project” page, to see the progress to date. It’s amazing how quickly things can happen once they get started.

Thank you to everyone who has contributed to our “Investing in Tomorrow’s Care” capital campaign. We are now at 64% of our $4 million goal. I’m hoping that all Greene County residents choose to participate in this important campaign. Every gift is important. Together we can bring quality health care and a first-rate facility to all Greene County residents for decades to come.

We are now one month into our EPIC electronic medical records conversion and all is going well. I want to thank our patients for their patience as staff continue to work through this important change. Our outpatient registration staff have successfully kept wait times under 8 minutes and continue to work at getting us back to what is most often wait times under 5 minutes.

I appreciate the attention given to following the new route to the ER entrance by emergency personnel throughout the county. Access to emergency services is vital to all of us. Remember the ER entrance is now only available through the outpatient drive off of Lincolnway.

In early April, Dr. Jon Van Der Veer joined our executive team in an administrative role to help us focus on our care coordination and physician alignment goals ensuring Greene County residents can get the care they need where they live.

As a critical access hospital, there are many things we don’t do — like open heart surgery — but we do many diagnostic tests, treatments, therapies and general surgeries. Choosing to have these all done at Greene County Medical Center is a real benefit to the patient. It’s also a real boost to the economy of the communities we all live in.

There are continual changes in health care and how it is delivered. All of us at Greene County Medical Center want to provide each of you with the best possible care now and into the future.

Thank you for choosing Greene County Medical Center to take care of many of your health care needs.

Always Here, Always Caring,
Carl Behne, CEO
