Medical Center Moment - May 2019
May seems to be a month for transitions. School kids adjusting from full days at school to summer days at home. Graduation marks a significant transition for many, whether it be from high school or college. The Behne household is experiencing this transition as we watch our daughter Samantha graduate from Greene County High School and plan for her college experience at UNI. We have many medical center employees with similar family transitions.
At the medical center, we see transitions happen every day as we watch surgery patients transition through therapy programs, Long Term Care residents transition from home to residency, and acute patients transition back home. It’s an honor to know that every staff member takes their role in these transitions seriously.
We honor and celebrate many successful transitions happening at the medical center during National Hospital Week, which was May 12-18. We celebrated our employees and donors at our annual pancake supper with Chris Cakes flipping pancakes for us. We also had our spring DAISY ceremony, where surgery nurse Brenda Groves was honored.
We have an administrative transition occurring in June, when Heather Paris will be joining the executive team as chief administrative officer and chief financial officer. Paris will oversee finance as well as a few service support areas. She joins us with years of hospital administrative experience and I am pleased that she will be a member of our executive team.
Our mission, “To enrich our community by providing quality, compassionate care to every patient and contributing to the well-being of every family” remains steadfast through the many transitions we experience at the medical center, and we are grateful you choose to experience successful transitions of care with us.
Always Here, Always Caring,
Carl Behne, CEO
