Medical Center Moment - November 28, 2013

When we get to this point in the year it’s safe to say — it’s holiday season. And there’s no better place to see this than in our main lobby where our Auxiliary has their Holiday of Lights display and silent auction in full swing. It’s a festive place. Bids are being accepted until 3 p.m. on Tuesday, December 3. Thank you to all who make this event so successful.

I enjoyed meeting with all those who came to the Coffee with Carl held at the Paton library this past Monday. These events give me a chance to hear what county residents have on their minds when it comes to the care we provide and how we can best provide it.

The medical center is moving into the holiday season with two important hires completed. Katie Heldt will be joining us as our new Chief Nursing Executive and Jaime Dodd is our new Long Term Care Director. Both come with solid backgrounds in their field and I’m looking forward to the many ways these new leaders will move us forward.

It is also exciting to see plans for an upcoming Capital Campaign taking shape with a wonderful steering committee on board under the direction of community co-chairs John Gerken and Rick Morain. You’ll hear more about this effort in early spring of 2014, but I want to thank all those who have stepped forward to help with this very important part of our upcoming expansion and renovation project.

Preparation for our building project is now underway with the new parking lot nearly complete in the back northwest corner of the medical center’s property. This lot will accommodate all of our employee parking needs and will open up the current parking areas off Grimmell road, which will be under construction starting in March of 2014.

There is a lot happening here, but all of us at the medical center take the time to be grateful for those we serve. And we will continue to move forward with our patients, visitors and community in mind.

Thank you for choosing Greene County Medical Center to take care of many of your health care needs.

Always Here, Always Caring,
Carl Behne, CEO
