The Iowa Insurance division’s Senior Health Insurance Information Program (SHIIP) recently celebrated its 25th anniversary and highlighted Greene County Medical Center in Jefferson at the program’s awards luncheon for its important part of SHIIP’s history.

“Greene County Medical Center is one of the pioneering organizations that has been helping SHIIP serve Iowans since our inception.  We want to thank them for their contributions and service that make a big impact for Medicare recipients in Greene County.”  Iowa SHIIP Director Kris Gross said.

“Throughout Iowa, SHIIP serves tens of thousands Iowans every year and has helped save Iowans more than $20 million in 2015, but we couldn’t do it without great partners like Greene County Medical Center,” Iowa Insurance Commissioner Nick Gerhart said.

SHIIP is a tremendous volunteer effort.  Over 350 trained SHIIP volunteer counselors across the state are ready to help answer questions from Iowans about Medicare and related health insurance.  SHIIP’s services are free, objective and confidential.

A SHIIP representative is at Greene County Medical Center every Tuesday by appointment.  Call Mary Ann Wright at 515-3836-2114 to schedule an appointment.
