Greene County Medical Center celebrates National Rural Health Day on November 19, 2015.

National Rural Health Day in Iowa is an opportunity to honor and celebrate health care facilities and health professionals in small towns, farming communities and rural areas, and also to recognize the unique health care challenges faced today.

In Iowa, 43% of the population lives in an area that is considered rural. Also in Iowa, 90 hospitals and 152 certified rural health clinics are located in rural areas.  Care transition teams from hospital and public and private businesses and groups are now coordinating efforts for residents who are at higher risk for health complications. 

Greene County Medical Center works hard to provide coordinated healthcare services to all those in the surrounding Greene County communities.  National Rural Health Day celebrates Iowa health care systems, which are recognized nationwide for outstanding delivery of medical services, their organizational operations, for community betterment and for their well-qualified, experienced staff.
