New SHIIP - SMP Volunteer Counselor at Greene County Medical Center
Greene County Medical Center welcomes Connie Burkett as a new Senior Health Insurance Information Program – Senior Medicare Patrol (SHIIP – SMP) volunteer counselor. Burkett will be joining Mary Tighe, who has been a SHIIP – SMP volunteer counselor at the medical center since 2012.
Burkett is a lifelong resident of Greene County. She previously worked as a registered nurse at the medical center for over 30 years.
Greene County Medical Center has been offering SHIIP services since 1990. SHIIP—SMP is a service of the State of Iowa. Certified SHIIP—SMP volunteer counselors provide free informational materials and one-on-one assistance with questions related to Medicare benefits, Medicare supplement insurance, Medicare and insurance claims, and education on how to guard against becoming a victim of Medicare fraud.
Greene County Medical Center has a SHIIP – SMP volunteer counselor available onsite every Tuesday from 9 a.m. – noon, by appointment. Call 515-386-2114 to make an appointment.
