Record Year for Auxiliary Holiday Fundraisers
When Auxilians tallied up the silent auction bid sheets for their 2017 “Holiday of Lights,” they were pleasantly surprised to see that their efforts increased by nearly $1,000 from their 2016 event. The bids for trees, wreaths and other holiday décor reached $3,883 this year, up from $2,940 in 2016.
The display, with over 45 items, went up in late November and continued through Wednesday, December 6, at 3 p.m., when the bidding stopped. This year the Auxiliary hosted a public open house on December 5, giving the public an opportunity to view the trees, wreaths and holiday decorations in a casual and festive setting. Light refreshments were provided by St. Croix Hospice of Ankeny, Iowa.
The Auxiliary's annual homemade holiday candy sale, held on Thursday, December 7, also saw an increase in revenue this year. The candy sale brought in $1,577, up from $1,057 in 2016.
The Auxiliary designated all proceeds from their holiday fundraisers this year to the medical center’s 3D mammography campaign.
St. Croix Hospice in Ankeny, IA, provided refreshments at the Holiday of Lights open house on December 5.
