Spring 2019 DAISY Award to Brenda Groves
May 8, 2019
Brenda Groves, surgery RN, was named Greene County Medical Center’s 11th DAISY Award honoree at a ceremony on Wednesday, May 8. There were four nurses recognized, as well as the entire acute nursing team, which came from one unique nomination form.
Groves has been at the medical center since 2002. She has been nominated for the DAISY Award three times since it was first done at the medical center in 2014. Her multiple nominations are testimony to the great and consistent care she provides her patients. Her nomination this spring noted that when a patient’s daughter had surgery, Brenda “spent time making sure [daughter] was comfortable and understood what was going on. She explained everything she was doing in a way we could understand. We are both very grateful to have such a smart, kind, compassionate nurse like Brenda available to help during such a stressful time.”
Other nominees recognized at the May 8 event were Long Term Care nurse Stacey Biggart and acute nurses Jodi Schroeder and Abby Skoglund, as well as the Acute Care nursing team. All nominations were filled with gratitude for the compassionate care these nurses provide.
Greene County Medical Center has recognized nurses with the internationally-known DAISY Award since 2014, and holds ceremonies twice a year. Nominations for the DAISY Award can be made throughout the year. Nomination forms and submission boxes are located throughout the medical center or available electronically via the medical center’s website. Nominations can be made by patients, their family members, caretakers, community members and co-workers.
