Back-to-School Healthcare Begins Now at Greene County Medical Center

JEFFERSON, Iowa – It may be early July and the heart of summer, but now is the time to begin planning for the 2023/24 school year.

Greene County Medical Center, the Family Medicine Clinic, Public Health and 21st Century Rehab are joining forces to make the transition from summer fun to sports practices and fall classes an easier one. They are offering free sports physicals and sports injury assessments as well as immunization clinics.

The Family Medicine Clinic is hosting the two free sports physical clinics. Dr. Connolly, Diana Smith, DNP and Julie Nielsen, ARNP will be seeing students on Wednesday July 12 and Dr. Connolly, Dr. Fagg and Mary Pedersen, ARNP will conduct physicals on Thursday, July 20. Both will be held from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m. Public Health will also be offering immunizations at those same dates and times. No insurance or appointments are necessary. Please bring the sports physical forms and parental consent. If unable to make it to the free sports physical clinics, call 515-386-0500 to schedule an appointment.

21st Century Rehab provides free sports injury assessments for all county athletes in grades seven through 12. In addition, they will be available at the high school training room to see athletes with injuries one day each week and will hold their annual free exam week for all from September 11 through September 15. Greene County Public Health has planned two back-to-school clinics, Wednesday, July 19 and Wednesday, August 16, both from 4 p.m. to 6:15 p.m. If unable to make those dates, immunizations are offered on Wednesdays from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. or they can be scheduled by calling 515-386-3228.
