Lifeline personal emergency response system units bring peace of mind to individuals and families in the Greene County Medical Center service area.  The medical center teams with Philips Lifeline Medical Alert Service to offer this service.

Lifeline is an easy-to-use medical alert service designed to reduce the risk of living alone.  In the event of a fall or emergency, help is available at the push of a button.  The Lifeline personal help button connects you to a trained personal response associate who can send help quickly - 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

The Lifeline Response Center uses state-of-the-art technology, and personal response associates are caring and patient when speaking with you during an emergency.

Lifeline can help you maintain your independence, and also give your family peace of mind.

How Lifeline Works

  1. Summon help.  When you need help, just press your personal help button, which activates the Lifeline Communicator.
  2. Professional intervention.  Your Communicator then dials the Lifeline response center and establishes two-way voice communication.
  3. Personal response.  A Lifeline response associate quickly accesses your profile and assesses the situation.
  4. Closed loop.  The associate then contacts a neighbor, loved one or emergency services, based on your specific needs.  The Lifeline response associate will follow-up to confirm that help arrived.

Are you ready for a medical alert service?

  1. Are you alone for several hours during the day and/or night?
  2. In the past year, have you fallen or been afraid of falling in your home?
  3. Have you been hospitalized or been to the emergency room in the past year?
  4. Do you have at least one of these chronic ailments -- heart disease, stroke, COPD, osteoporosis, diabetes, arthritis?
  5. Are you required to take several daily medications?
  6. Do you require assistance with at least one of the following activities - bathing, toileting, dressing, meal preparation, etc.?
  7. Would a medical alert service provide peace of mind for your loved ones?

Are you at risk of falling?

  1. Have you fallen in the last 12 months?
  2. Do you often have difficulty seeing clearly?
  3. When seated, do you have difficulty getting back up to a standing position?
  4. When you stand up, do you sometimes feel lightheaded, dizzy or off-balance?
  5. Do you take four or more medications each day, including over-the-counter remedies from the health food store or drug store?
  6. Are you depressed, or do you feel "down" or "blue"?
  7. Is it sometimes hard to walk because you feel stiff or weak or because your feet hurt?
  8. Do you sometimes make frequent or hurried trips to the bathroom?
  9. Do you limit your activities because you are afraid you might fall?
  10. At home, is it sometimes difficult to move around safely because items you need are hard to reach or have to be carried down the stairs?
