JEFFERSON, Iowa – What if small, realistic changes you make today could significantly lower your risk of dementia tomorrow? Research highlighted by Brain Help & Hope shows that up to 70 percent of dementia risk is linked to lifestyle factors we can influence. That means there is real, evidence-based hope, and Greene County Public Health is bringing it straight to you.
Beginning Tuesday, March 3, Greene County Public Health will begin its engaging and practical 10-week Brain Help & Hope: KEYS to Dementia Prevention course. Classes will meet every Tuesday through May 5 from 3:30 to 5:30 p.m. in the Education Center at Greene County Medical Center.
This is no lecture series. It is a roadmap built on a nationally recognized model. The course focuses on 10 proven “Keys” to brain health, including nutrition, movement, sleep, stress reduction, mental stimulation, social connection, hearing and vision health and management of chronic conditions. Each key is grounded in science, explained in plain language and paired with realistic strategies participants can actually use.
“Brain Help & Hope is based on what research tells us about neuroplasticity; the brain’s ability to adapt and change at any age,” said Public Health Director, Shelby Cooklin. “This class helps people understand how everyday habits affect brain health and gives them support to make changes that truly matter.”
The full 10-week series costs $20 per person and space is limited to ensure meaningful discussion and support. Registration is now open, so reserve your spot today by calling 515-386-3228. Your brain is worth the investment; start building its future this March.
