Turn Downtime into a Degree Boost
by Greene County Medical Center - December 19, 2025
JEFFERSON, Iowa – While classes are on pause and schedules slow down, now is the perfect time to take a simple step toward a career in healthcare. The Greene County Medical Center Foundation and Auxiliary offer scholarships designed to support students pursuing healthcare-related degrees, and applications are now open.
For students in the medical center’s service area, these scholarships help offset the cost of education in fields like nursing, radiology, laboratory sciences and therapy as well as financial and business fields related to healthcare. It is a meaningful investment in students who want to make a difference close to home.
With an April 1 deadline, the holiday break offers a stress-free window to gather transcripts, request recommendations and complete the application without the pressure of classes and exams. A little time now could make a big impact later.
Information and applications for the Greene County Medical Center Foundation and Auxiliary scholarship can be found at www.gcmchealth.com under the About tab. Applications are also available at area guidance counselor offices.
Additional financial assistance is offered through the Iowa Hospital Education Research Foundation (IHERF), which provides scholarships up to a total of $7,000 over two years. Applications for IHERF scholarships are due February 15 and details can be found on the Greene County Medical Center scholarship web page.
