Beyond Speech Therapy

“I was worried that my lapses might be early dementia, so my provider recommended I schedule a memory appointment. I was hesitant at first,” explained James North, “but meeting with Katelyn Goettsch at 21st Century Rehab changed everything.”  

North said the Speech Language Pathologist/Speech Therapist put him at ease, listened to his concerns, answered all his questions and reassured him that much of what he was feeling was normal. “She taught me so much about brain health, hydration, stress, sleep, diet and helpful breathing and relaxation techniques,” North added. “Taking the memory test and having it explained so clearly eased many of my fears.”  

Perhaps most importantly, North appreciated having a safe place to talk without judgement and being able to leave with practical tools he can use every day.  

“I’m very grateful for the experience,” he said. “Grade A+, though it might have helped if Katelyn had been a Hawkeye fan!”
