COVID-19 Vaccine

JEFFERSON, Iowa – The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) reports COVID-19 is endemic, meaning it is here to stay. Because of this, they are recommending the updated, 2024-2025 COVID vaccine be administered with the flu vaccine for protection against severe cases this fall and winter.

“Originally, we were only going to have access to enough COVID vaccine to offer it for children 6 months to 12 years old,” explained Greene County Public Health Director, Becky Wolf. “We are extremely pleased that we are now going to be able to open this up to patients of all ages.”

Because COVID is constantly changing while protections from previous boosters decline over time, an updated vaccination will help protect from contraction and/or severe cases of the virus this fall.

Moderna COVID vaccinations can be done during the daily Public Health vaccination clinics on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays from 10 a.m. to noon and on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. These are located in the Public Health offices on Level B at Greene County Medical Center. It can also be administered during the drive-through clinic at the Greene County Fairgrounds from 3 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. Wednesday, October 16.

Appointments are not required but are encouraged. These can be done by scanning the QR code below or contacting Public Health at 515-386-3228.
