Flu & COVID-19 Vaccinations

JEFFERSON, Iowa – Fall is here, and Greene County Public Health is making it easier than ever to protect yourself and your family from the flu and COVID-19. With convenient weekday hours, after-hours clinics and a drive-through vaccination event, getting your seasonal vaccines can fit into even the busiest schedule.

“We all have enough on our plates without adding an avoidable illness to the list,” said Public Health Director, Shelby Cooklin. “Getting vaccinated is one simple step people can take to protect themselves, their families and the people in our community who may be more vulnerable to a serious illness.”

Flu and COVID vaccinations are available at Greene County Public Health Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Appointments are encouraged but not required.

For those who need an appointment outside of regular hours, Public Health hosts after-hours clinics on the third Wednesday of each month from 4:30 to 6 p.m. Appointments are required for these clinics.

They will also be holding their annual drive-through flu and COVID vaccination clinic on Wednesday, October 14, from 3:30 to 6:30 p.m. at the Greene County Fairgrounds in Jefferson. Registration can be completed by scanning the QR code below. The drive-through format allows individuals and families to receive their vaccinations without having to leave their vehicles.

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) recommends annual flu vaccination for everyone 6 months and older, with vaccination particularly important for people at increased risk of serious complications, including older adults, young children, pregnant women and people with certain chronic health conditions or weakened immune systems.

With multiple options available, Greene County Public Health hopes residents will choose the vaccination option that works best for them and make protecting their health part of their fall routine.
