JEFFERSON, Iowa – For many people, charitable giving is about more than writing a check. It’s about supporting the people, organizations and causes they care about. It’s about making those gifts as meaningful as possible.
Two local professionals, Max Neese, CFP® with Journey Financial and Ross Martens, CPA with Martens & Associates, will be sharing their expertise on maximizing your gifts while also optimizing tax benefits at the upcoming Smart Charitable Giving event on Tuesday, September 29th , beginning at 10 a.m. in the Courtyard Event Center, 214 E State Street in Jefferson.
“Whether you already give regularly, are considering a larger gift or simply want to better understand your options, Smart Charitable Giving offers an opportunity to learn more about ways to approach philanthropy thoughtfully and strategically,” Neese said.
Neese is a Certified Financial Planner™ with Journey Financial in Jefferson. His work focuses on helping individuals and business owners pursue their financial goals through financial planning, investment management, and tax and estate planning.
With both financial planning and tax perspectives represented, Neese and Martens will provide information to help attendees think about charitable giving in the context of their broader financial goals.
“Smart charitable giving isn’t simply about how much you give; it’s making thoughtful decisions about how, when and where you give and understanding the options available to you,” Martens added.
Martens is a Certified Public Accountant and owner of Martens & Associates, a Jefferson-based accounting firm. He has experience in corporate, partnership and individual tax planning and preparation as well as working with clients in agriculture and other industries.
