Greene County Medical Center Auxiliary and Foundation Name Six Scholarship Recipients

JEFFERSON, Iowa – Six area high school and college students have been awarded $9,000 in scholarships from the Greene County Medical Center’s Foundation and Auxiliary.

"One of the most rewarding visions of both the Greene County Medical Center Foundation and the Auxiliary is the shared goal of supporting healthcare today and far into the future,” said Nancy Houska, Foundation Director. “We believe that access to education is the very cornerstone of that future. When we invest in students, we are investing in our communities, in equity and in the next generation of compassionate and skilled professionals."

Those receiving scholarships for the 2025/2026 school year include:

·        Bailey Biggart - a 2025 graduate of Greene County High School and the daughter of Stacey and Jon Biggart of Jefferson. Bailey plans to attend Iowa Central Community College in the fall and is interested in pursuing a career in psychology.

·        Ava Binkley - a 2025 graduate of Greene County High School and the daughter of Lacey and Troy Binkley of Jefferson. She will be attending the University of Colorado Boulder in the fall pursuing a degree in biochemistry.

·        Amber Gilbertson - a student at Iowa Central Community College in Fort Dodge. Amber is studying to become a radiologic technologist.

·        Sadie Gilbertson – the daughter of Michele and Danny Gilbertson of Jefferson, attends Iowa Central Community College in Fort Dodge and is pursing a degree in nursing.

·        Nikki Rose - the daughter of Sandra and the late Kenneth Stoneburner of Jefferson, will be attending Seward Community College in Liberal, Kansas studying to become a medical laboratory technician.

·        Sadie Shannon - a 2025 graduate of Greene County High School and the daughter of Karen and Allen Shannon of Jefferson. She is enrolled at Iowa Central Community College and will begin her pursuit of a nursing degree this fall.

Any resident of the Greene County Medical Center’s service area who is entering or already attending a college or university in pursuit of a healthcare-related career is eligible to apply for the Foundation and Auxiliary scholarships. Applications are due by April 1 of each year and are available through the local high school counselor’s offices or online at gcmchealth.com under the About Us tab.
