Gifts of Grain

JEFFERSON, Iowa – As the harvest season gets underway, the Greene County Medical Center Foundation is reaching out to local farmers, asking you to consider a unique and impactful way to give back. Through the Gifts of Grain program, producers can donate a portion of their crop to help plant those seeds of hope for a healthier tomorrow; ensuring quality healthcare remains accessible to families in Greene County.

“Farmers exemplify resilience, dedication and a deep commitment to their communities,” said Foundation Director, Nancy Houska. “These qualities inspire us daily and are ingrained in those willing to give back in ways that benefit their families, their friends and their neighbors. By donating to the Gifts of Grain program, you turn your hard work into a gift that supports the health and well-being of all these people. It truly is a meaningful way to invest in our communities.”

The process is simple.  Grain donations are delivered to local elevators, and the Foundation is the named recipient at that time. The proceeds from the sale go directly to support the vital healthcare services provided by Greene County Medical Center.

“As you work those long hours during harvest this fall, consider the impact your gift can make,” Houska added. “It can go beyond feeding others to help heal and build stronger, healthier Greene County communities. Your donation, whether large or small, is a way for you to continue planting seeds for the future benefit of all.”

By participating, farmers are not only establishing a legacy of care, they are also able to write off the donation for tax planning purposes. Producers are encouraged to discuss this option with their financial planner.
