JEFFERSON, Iowa – The threat of rain dissipated and Friday the 13th turned into a lucky weather day for golfers who attended the Greene County Medical Center Foundation’s Stethoscopes & Stetsons golf tournament. The 18 teams participating had a perfect day on the links and a lot of fun, but some fared better score-wise than others.

“We are not only grateful for the favorable weather, we are also grateful for the many sponsors and players who made the outing a success again this year,” said Foundation Director, Nancy Houska. “We want to thank the businesses and individuals who support our mission to provide assistance to Greene County Medical Center, but most importantly, to all of the families who rely on us to be Always Here, Always Caring. Thanks to their generosity, we will continue to support those services, programs and equipment needs while also paying it forward with a donation to the 2026 Bell Tower Festival.”

At registration, golfers were treated to a hot breakfast sponsored by the Greene County Medical Center Auxiliary and prepared by the Greene County Medical Center Nutritional Services department. Mid-morning snacks were donated by Murphy Farm Meats. Following play, a delicious pork loin lunch was provided by Jefferson Hy-Vee.

The day concluded with the announcement of winners. Taking home the first-place prize (G.O.A.T.) for the second year in a row was the combined team of Jefferson Family Dentistry, Fortress Insurance, John Hupp and Brett Abbotts. The Middle of the Pack prize went to Mumma & Pedersen, and the team with high score, the Better Luck Next Year team, was Hoyt, Morain & Hommer. Other opportunities to win included men’s and women’s longest drives, trivia and a putting contest.
