Welcome to Medicare Seminar Helps Residents Make Informed Decisions
by Greene County Medical Center - May 23, 2025
JEFFERSON, Iowa – Greene County Medical Center and the State of Iowa’s Senior Health Insurance Information Program (SHIIP) are pleased to announce an upcoming Welcome to Medicare seminar from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Tuesday, June 17.
This free event is designed to help individuals approaching Medicare eligibility better understand their options and responsibilities before enrollment. The seminar is open to anyone considering enrollment or those helping another with Medicare decisions.
Understanding Medicare can become overwhelming. The Welcome to Medicare seminar provides an opportunity to gain confidence and clarity before making important Medicare decisions. This seminar is an essential step toward a smooth transition into Medicare.
Potential enrollees should begin gathering information and evaluating Medicare choices at least six to 12 months before their 65th birthday or before retirement if employer coverage is ending. Delays or missed deadlines can result in late enrollment penalties or temporary loss of coverage, and making uninformed decisions can lead to higher costs or gaps in coverage.
Our local experts will provide essential guidance on Medicare Part A, Part B, Part D (prescription coverage), Medicare Advantage plans, supplemental insurance and enrollment timelines. In addition, attendees will be provided details on how to spot Medicare fraud and abuse as well as what to do if an error should occur.
Space is limited for the June 17 seminar in the Greene County Medical Center Education Center, 1000 West Lincoln Way, Jefferson. Please call 515-386-2114 to register today.
