Gina Geisler Receives Spring 2018 DAISY Award

Gina Geisler, RN in acute nursing, was named Greene County Medical Center’s ninth DAISY Award honoree at a ceremony on Wednesday, May 9. There were ten nurses recognized at the event.
Geisler, who has been at the medical center since 2001 when she started as a housekeeper and then became a nurse’s aide, prior to earning her nursing degree, was recognized by a patient family member who noted “Gina’s compassion and diligence and persistency to act on a vital that wasn’t normal…was a huge part in saving my mother’s life.” The nomination ended with, “Hats off to a diligent and exceptional nurse going above and beyond.”
Other nominees recognized at the May 9 event were Long Term Care nurses Maria Bretey, Jeanne Hoening and Vicki McCool; surgical nurses Brenda Groves and Christie Pille; acute nurses Allie Hamilton, Heather Kinsey and Jodi Schroeder; and public health nurse Jill Juergensen. All nominations expressed great appreciation for the work of compassionate and extraordinary nurses.
Greene County Medical Center has recognized nurses through the internationally-known DAISY Award since 2014 and holds ceremonies twice a year. Nominations for the DAISY Award can be made throughout the year. Nomination forms and submission boxes are located throughout the medical center or electronically via the medical center’s website. Nominations can be made by patients, their family members, caretakers, community members and co-workers.
